 BucksNBulls Archery Minimize

I was in mid Wisconsin for some long weekend classes and wasn't going to be able to shoot a 3D shoot, but I still needed my archery fix for the week. I asked around and was guided to a small archery shop in Plover, Wisconsin, BuckNBulls Archery. I called the shop and asked if I could come over and do a quick interview, and was warmly received. They would be closing soon, he told me, and he had to be somewhere shortly thereafter, so I promised him I would just take a few minutes of his time.

After a breakneck trip through town, so that I didn't hold the owner up, I arrived at 2221 Post Road and was welcomed by the BucksNBulls sign. I introduced myself to Tom Jakusz, the owner, and my first question, "So I assume the 'Bulls' in your name means elk?" Oh boy, that started a thirty minute comparison of our elk hunting experiences, apparently Tom is as addicted to elk hunting as I am. Tom has been addicted a bit longer than I have, fifteen years, but the passion is the same. Tom does most of his elk hunting in Arizona. Well so much for "just a few minutes".

Tom was a very friendly guy, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. Tom has been in business for some six years altogether, and he has been in their current location about two and a half years. The shop is a small shop located on a main drag in town. They don't have a range, but like all good archery shops there is a place where a new archer can be fitted to the right bow, and the customer can loose a few arrows.

Tom is a Certified NFA instructor as well as a Certified Hunter Safety Instructor. Tom gives lessons right at the shop, and spoke at length to me about how he likes to take brand new archers and get them started - no bad habits to break. His favorite, he told me are ladies. Imagine that! No, not that way! Women just seem to pick the sport up easier for some reason. I have heard that from others as well. They seem to absorb instruction easier than guys. Guys always seem to take longer to get their form right and keep it right.

BucksNBulls carries a full line of Mathews, Hoyt and PSE bows. They also have a complete line of sights, releases, arrow rests and all the other necessities of outfitting a bow. He also carries a small supply of traditional bows. Tom runs a complete pro shop and he was careful to share that only he and a couple of other very experienced archers work on customers bows. He doesn't hire inexperienced help.

Tom is also involved in helping out the community as well. He spent three years helping neighboring city, Stevens Point, with their deer problem, harvesting many deer quietly and efficiently. Now that is what I call being a good citizen! Hey Tom, can you hook me up with something like that?

BucksNBulls doesn't have a website, but you can reach Tom by email at BucksNBullsArchery@charterinternet.com, or you can visit his store at 2221 Post Rd, Plover, WI 54467.
